What are the problems after the aging of the DC motor?

Oct 23, 2021

The aging of DC motors has caused many problems. The conditions reflected are generally the expansion of the heating value, the decrease of its own efficiency, and the increase of the operating current. There are different types of aging: insulation aging and mechanical aging.

The aging of the insulation layer of DC motors leads to frequent failures of electrical equipment. The two-color or abnormal insulation layer of the DC motor causes short circuit between the motor windings and lack of phase operation, or the rotor breaks, resulting in insufficient motor load rate and motor overcurrent. The aging of the mechanical equipment of the DC motor will cause common faults such as motor wire sweeping, rolling bearing overlap, excessive vibration, abnormal noise, etc. If it can be corrected in time, it is generally not easy to damage the motor.

Regardless of whether the DC motor is mechanically aging or the insulation layer is aging, it is not easy to damage the motor at the same time. The main parameters of motor current, front and rear rolling bearing temperature, self temperature, working current balance and vibration are given.

Regular maintenance and timely repair of DC motors are essential. When it is ensured to check the main parameters of the engine every day and keep records, the safety inspection will determine a main parameter abnormality and immediately correct it for more extensive maintenance. Timely maintenance work is possible: the front and rear rolling bearings of the DC motor must be filled with grease in time, the ventilation holes must be removed in time, the wiring terminals must be tightened in time, and the insulation layer, working current and load of the motor magnet must be calibrated in time.
